VanEck, a prominent asset management firm, submitted an application to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on January 15th for an exchange-traded fund named "Onchain Economy." This ETF aims to invest across the entire cryptocurrency industry, encompassing software developers, mining companies, cryptocurrency exchanges, infrastructure builders, payment services, and other businesses within the cryptosphere.
The manager of this fund categorizes these enterprises as "digital transformation companies." According to the filing, the selection of these companies is based on fundamental analysis, market trends, their strategic position in the digital asset ecosystem, and valuation. Furthermore, the fund will also invest in commodity futures contracts and other digital asset instruments, avoiding direct investment in cryptocurrencies by holding them directly.
